Ken Urker died on October 1, 2026, his 34th birthday. He was Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s former fiancé and the father of their daughter, Aurora. As news of his death spread online, many readers went looking for an answer to the same question: What happened to him?

Blanchard has said she believes Urker died from an apparent overdose. For now, that remains her account. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office has not confirmed a cause of death and says its investigation is ongoing.

Who Was Ken Urker?

Urker first contacted Blanchard while she was in prison. Their letters became phone calls, then a relationship. He proposed during a visit in 2018. The engagement ended, and for a time they lived separate lives.

They reunited in 2024 and welcomed their daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, that December. Their relationship played out under unusually close public attention. Away from that attention, Urker was a father and loved one whose family is now grieving him.

Ken Urker’s Cause of Death: What We Know

No official cause of death has been released. Blanchard told PEOPLE she believes Urker died from an overdose, but said she did not know what substance was involved or whether it was intentional. TMZ later reported that she believed an unidentified substance had been found at the home. Investigators have not verified those details publicly.

Deputies responded to a home in Raceland, Louisiana, at about 6:15 p.m. on October 1 and found Urker dead when they arrived, according to the sheriff’s office. The death investigation remained open as of October 2. No autopsy or toxicology findings had been made public.

That is where the facts stand. It would be premature to name a drug or describe the death as accidental or intentional.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Reaction

Blanchard described Urker as an “amazing father” and said she wants Aurora to know how deeply he loved her. She also spoke of her own shock at losing him.

In her statement, Blanchard raised the online harassment and public scrutiny Urker had faced. She believes it affected him deeply. Her concern should be taken seriously, while the question of how he died remains with investigators. She has asked for privacy for Aurora and both families.
